8 Months Old Today!

Happy birthday Shiloh Hope! It has been exactly 8 months since you joined us on this grand adventure called life!

You are so blessed and you don’t even know it. You have never lacked food. You have always had a roof over your head. You have never known want. You were not like the kids we met in Maine who did not know they were homeless. Not only were you born into a world that has much to offer, from modern health care to technology and education, but you were also born into a family with access to it. You are even well traveled, having already been to 5 national parks, Canada, Mexico, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, and today you visited St Kitts!

In the midst of all of the blessings, the words of Jesus haunt us. “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet forfeits his soul?” All of the blessings can be a dangerous distraction if you ever set your eyes on it. The stuff of this world cannot satisfy, it is not designed to. It can only be enjoyed to it’s full as you “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,” and God adds things to your life.” What is far grander than wanderlust for the sake of adventure is to get to know Jesus and follow God through life forever.

The world can change, circumstances can change, the privileges you are enjoying as a baby may not always be available to you. But Jesus will never leave you. Our hope for you is as you grow older you place your faith only in Jesus and keep your eyes on Him every day for the rest of your life. Happy 8 months!
